According to long time Pacquiao advisor Michael Koncz , it looks like Top Rank and Pacquiao are going to take the big money offer down under to travel and take on unbeaten Australian welterweight prospect Jeff Horn on July 2nd. While I am sure this will be great fun for our Ozzy friends, at least until Horn is sleeping, it is nothing more than a stay busy cash grab for Team Pacquiao at this point.
Horn is not a terrible fighter. He can look very smooth for extended periods of time and has some real athletic talent. He has also struggled badly in moments against the shells of Ali Funeka and Randall Bailey, guys that this faded Pacquiao would have beaten in their primes. The Jessie Vargas fight was not particularly inspiring, and this one is much worse. Hopefully it is just a stay busy fight before something real comes along in the fall.
