Former unified heavyweight titlist and genuine crazy person Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) has been keeping his name in the headlines over the past few weeks by continuing to go on and on about how he is going to launch a comeback. I am skeptical and don’t normally report this kind of thing, but he seems to think he is serious at least so here we are.

First it was a May date, now he is supposedly preparing for a return on the undercard of the expected but yet to be announced Billy Joe Saunders WBO middleweight title defense against Avtandil Khurtsidze. This card is expected to take place in July. Fury has promised to lose over a hundred pounds and come back better than ever. He is also reportedly begun training on some level with Saunders as well and has seemed in pretty good spirits.
With that said, Fury’s mental health is clearly not great and his physical health doesn’t look much better. It would be wonderful if he could come back with his head on straight, but that feels like a long shot. I don’t mean to say I believe he will never fight again because I do think he will when he eventually runs out of money, but to expect him to come back even at only 29 years old and be the guy who was able to outpoint Wladimir Klitschko is a lot to ask.
Currently Fury is about 365 pounds, reportedly. He has put on his best performances in the high 240s. No opponent for this maybe imaginary July bout has been rumored, but it will certainly be a very low level opponent if it happens.
