Sergei Kovalev (30-1-1, 26 KOs) and Andre Ward (31-0, 15 KOs) engaged in the most debated fight of 2016 this past November. It was an entertaining, high level display of boxing without a clear winner. A rematch is in high order. Thankfully, as reported by ESPN’s Dan Rafael, we have negotiations and a potential date for a rematch.

The fight would again be on HBO PPV.
Slated for the co-feature would be Guillermo Rigondeaux (17-0, 11 KOs) versus Moises Flores (25-0, 17 KOs) to help clean up some of the WBA’s nonsense at 122. Rigondeaux is, of course, the real WBA Super Bantamweight Champion, but Flores won an interim version of the title in 2015 because the WBA wanted three champions in every division. The WBA, everyone!
Rigodeaux, one of the greatest amateurs of all time, remains a top level pound for pound fighter, but there will be a fall at some point soon. 36 years old at Super Bantamweight is not a recipe for success historically. Will Flores be the one to show his age? Or will this fight be as uneventful as most Rigo fights have been?
Venezuelan by way of Panama Nehomar Cermero (26-5-1, 15 KOs) holds the third WBA belt at the weight so presumably the winner would fight him if the WBA is still interested in cleaning up their title picture.
