Amir Khan is looking to return in November

Amir Khan (31-4, 19 KOs), last seen unconscious on his back while Canelo Alvarez stood over him a year ago, is targeting a return to the ring this November. After the Canelo bout, which to be fair he was winning until the moment of the knockout, Khan had hand surgery that kept him out of the rest of 2016.

As always, Khan is aiming for the biggest fight possible. For this spring he tried to secure fights with both Kell Brook and Manny Pacquiao, but neither happened. The Brook fight was never close as they were reportedly very far apart on financial terms, but the Pacquiao deal seemed like it was going to happen until some investors from the Middle East turned out to not really have the money.

No news on a potential opponent or exact date, but Khan did say he wanted the fight to be for a title. Given that three of the belts at welterweight are already tied up in fall fights, that would only leave the Brook/Spence winner for Khan to get his wish with. I don’t think he is getting a title fight unless he chooses to take one at junior middleweight. He did look pretty good one pound north of that weight against Canelo until very suddenly he didn’t.
