Oh, boxing. In an eventful weigh in day, first former two division world titlist Carl Frampton missed weight for his title eliminator of a home coming. Then, later in the day, his opponent Andres Gutierrez fell in the shower and injured himself. The card is now off. Only in boxing does stuff like this ever happen. This fight was supposed to be for a shot at Gary Russell Jr’s WBC featherweight title. It was going to be streamed live via Showtime’s Facebook and Youtube pages in the United States and aired on Channel 5 in the UK. None of these things are happening now. Frampton missing weight will now be overshadowed by the bigger cancellation, but hopefully he can still make featherweight going forward. He would not be a very big junior lightweight.
