Emerging junior welterweight contender Josh Taylor officially has his next fight set for November 11th at home in Scotland against former lightweight titleholder Miguel Vasquez. Less official, David Haye and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr both have announced on Twitter that they have interesting opponents lined up in a rematch with Tony Bellew and Anthony Dirrell respectively.

David Haye (28-3, 26 KOs) and Tony Bellew (29-2-1, 21 KOs) met in March in Bellew’s heavyweight debut. In a pretty big upset, Tony Bellew scored an eleventh round knockout. That is not the story, however, as a bad achilles tendon injury made Haye a sitting duck for the second half of the fight. If his announcement is accurate, this would be a pretty quick return from a serious injury for the Hayemaker. It will also be a rematch that sells quite well in the UK. December 17th is the targeted date.

Even more bizarre than Haye returning so quickly from a serious injury is the idea of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr (50-3-1, 32 KOs) returning following his disappointing non-performance against Canelo Alvarez in against a top fighter like Anthony Dirrell (30-1-1, 24 KOs). It doesn’t seem like that is a fight he could possibly win, but Chavez is claiming he was dead at the catchweight he fought Canelo at and he will be able to compete at a high level at full super middleweight. Good luck with that one, Julio. The supposed date here is November 11th.

For sure on November 11th is rising Scottish star Josh Taylor’s (10-0, 9 KOs) return at home in Scotland. He will be facing former lightweight titleholder Miguel Vasquez (39-5, 15 KOs), a fighter not exactly known for his fan friendly style. Vasquez will be an interesting test for the rising Scottish contender as he tries to move closer to his first title shot. Last time out he looked pretty spectacular against fellow British prospect Ohara Davies.
