PBC announces a pair of weak FS1 cards for September

Toe to Toe Tuesdays, Boxing

The PBC on FS1, Toe to Toe Tuesday train just keeps on rolling down the tracks. Today PBC announced cards for both September 19th and September 26th from Las Vegas and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania respectively. The first will pit Leduan Barthelemy against Eduardo Ramirez while the second will feature Mario Barrios versus Naim Nelson. Unfortunately, these are not great fights.

Leduan Barthelemy, Boxing
Leduan Barthelemy

These aren’t good main events even by the PBC on FS1 standards. On September 19th, Leduan Barthelemy (13-0, 7 KOs), brother to Rances, returns for the first time since March. He is in against a relatively unknown Mexican prospect in Eduardo Ramirez (20-0-2, 7 KOs). Despite the unbeaten record, Ramirez’s ledger looks similar to those Barthelemy has been fighting. Yet, he is an unknown and Barthelemy has never exactly looked dominant, so I guess this isn’t a sealed and delivered result.

I don’t think I can say the same thing about the September 26th card one week later. Mario Barrios (19-0, 11 KOs) has been someone PBC has been simultaneously promoting and protecting. It is strange, actually, given how they consistently give him good FS1 slots and match him notable weaker than everyone else. It isn’t as if he has this big built in fanbase that they are trying to milk. Naim Nelson (13-3, 1 KO) has lost three of his last four and has a KO percentage barely better than yours and mine. Why are we being subjected to this?

There have been a lot of good, underrated PBC on FS1 shows. These do not rank among them on paper.
