For the second time in a year, Leduan Barthelemy lost a fight on a PBC on FS1 card without taking a loss on his record. Undefeated Mexican prospect Eduardo Ramirez applied non-stop pressure last night on his Cuban adversary, seeming to win at least six and as many as eight rounds along the way. In the end, however, Ramirez and Barthelemy only left with a draw.

In their own way results like these are even more frustrating than a terrible Adelaid Byrd scorecard in a super fight like Golovkin versus Canelo. Those guys fought for millions and are going to rematch for likely even more. Eduadro Ramirez (20-0-3, 7 KOs), on the other hand, is very unlikely to get a rematch here. Most likely, it will be back to the Mexican domestic scene for him instead of getting the breakout win he deserves. I don’t know how one judge managed to find five rounds for a draw for the Cuban, let alone seven like Patricia Morse Jarman somehow did.
If Ramirez carried any power at all, he would have won the fight by stoppage in the sixth round. Barthelemy was eating power punch after power punch, but he took it pretty well given how many huge shots he ate. Barthelemy just has no defense, power to keep someone away, or ability to fight on the inside. He is not an elite prospect despite his brothers Yan having an Olympic gold medal and Rances being a two division titleholder.
I scored the fight 97-93 for Ramirez, seven rounds to three, with him winning seven of the last eight rounds. His pressure clearly carried the fight, but it didn’t matter. Damnit, boxing.
Also on the card, junior lightweight Alejandro Salinas (9-1, 8 KOs) and lightweight Bryan Figueroa (13-0, 5 KOs) outpointed Duarn Vue (12-1-2, 4 KOs) and Ivan Jimenez (7-1-1, 4 KOs) respectively. Of note, Vue took some pretty epic shots from Salinas. These were pretty low level fights even for Toe-to-Toe Tuesday undercard bouts.
