Over the past few days the rumor mill has been abuzz with talk of Floyd Mayweather Jr looking to take a 51st fight. With training videos surfacing, ideas from a McGregor rematch, a Cotto rematch, to a fight with new reality TV star Amir Khan have been circulating the boxing world to various reactions. Calm down, everyone. He is staying retired.
To settle the issue, Floyd Mayweather Jr stated the following to fighthype.com:
“I’m happily retired. I’m not fighting no more, no matter what the price is.”
If Floyd was returning, he’d keep the buzz going by dropping little hints. The man is unquestionably a savvy promoter and he isn’t bothering to do any of that work here. It appears that the training videos are simply an aging man staying in the gym to stay in shape. Good for Floyd. August’s mega money fight with MMA superstar Conor McGregor will indeed go down as his final contest.
