Results: Amir Khan blitzes Phil Lo Greco in one

It wasn’t a competitive fight on paper or in the ring. Amir Khan made a triumphant return to the ring today with a quick finish of made to order comeback opponent Phil Lo Greco.

Amir Khan (32-4, 20 KOs) came out of the gates swinging and he tagged Phil Lo Greco (28-4, 15 KOs) with two clean shots immediately. As his Canadian opponent stepped back to gather himself, Amir shot a right hand over the top that toppled him over. At this point Lo Greco wasn’t badly hurt, but it didn’t take long for that to change. Khan charged with a series of shots, wobbled Lo Greco again, and then finished him with a left hook. Maybe the stoppage was a hair quick, but I didn’t think so. Even if it was, the end was near anyway. A full minute didn’t even pass by in this one.

Post-fight Amir Khan talked about how Lo Greco was a dangerous opponent despite that being ridiculous. When the conversation switched to his future, Khan focused a concerning amount on being a “47” fighter given that the fight most want to see would be the long overdue matchup with junior middleweight Kell Brook. When asked directly about Brook, Khan again repeating that he was fighting at welterweight before going into a rant about how everyone knows he’d beat Kell Brook anyway. It didn’t sound like he was all that interested in the showdown. Promoter Eddie Hearn talked about making it a priority afterward at least.
