Results: Devin Haney shines bright on ShoBox

Devin Haney, teen today, star tomorrow?

Heralded 19 year old Devin Haney stepped up tonight on ShoBox against Mason Menard and put on an excellent performance in the quadruple header’s main event. The future looks bright for the young fighter. Joshua Greer Jr also picked up another knockout in the co-main event.

There doesn’t need to be a ton written about 19 year old Devin Haney’s (19-0, 13 KOs) fight with Mason Menard (33-3, 24 KOs) tonight on ShoBox. It was a simple and consistent outclassing. From the opening bell Haney employed constant movement, pausing only long enough to land a couple shots before moving on. He used his wildly superior athleticism and reflexes to entirely neutralize Menard while doing absolutely anything he wanted to himself in there. It was a completely dominant performance.

The fight never reached a fever pitch, nor did it ever devolve into a brutal beating despite how one sided it was the whole way. After taking a few good shots to end the ninth, Mason Menard and his team acknowledged in the corner that they had lost every round and weren’t going to catch him by retiring on the stool to give the 19 year old the TKO win. This was an unquestionably impressive performance and a very nice coming out party for Devin Haney on Showtime.

Joshua Greer (17-1-1, 9 KOs) picked up a nice eighth round stoppage win over fellow ShoBox alumni Glenn Dezurn (9-2-1, 6 KOs) in the co-main event. Greer got to break out his pillow gimmick for his fourth straight stoppage here. He face planted Dezurn on a right hand in the inside and finished him after he rose. Super bantamweight prospect Arnold Khegai (12-0-1, 8 KOs) of Ukraine and light heavyweight Charles Foster (15-0, 8 KOs) also picked up wins on the undercard over Adam Lopez (16-3-2, 8 KOs) and Alvin Varmall Jr (15-1-1, 12 KOs) respectively. In his loss, Adam Lopez set the series record with his seventh ShoBox appearance.
