Weekly Fight Schedule is highlighted by… spending time with your family on the upcoming holiday weekend

Happy Labor Day in advance, everyone! Celebrate the extra day off however you’d life. Unless, that is, you want to celebrate it by watching boxing. We only have one card of note this weekend and it isn’t a particularly big one.

Ryan Garcia (15-0, 13 KOs) v Carlos Morales (17-2-3, 6 KOs), super lightweights & Marvin Cabrera (8-0, 6 KOs) v Neeco Macias (16-0, 9 KOs), junior middleweights – Indio, California – Facebook Watch, 9 PM Eastern

This is it. 20 year old prospect Ryan Garcia might be the brightest young light in Golden Boy’s stable, but that doesn’t make this a good main event for the weekend at large. Still, at least it is here. Without it we’d have nothing on both US and British television. As an opponent Carlos Morales is only okay. He stands no chance to win here, but we do have an interesting comparison to make since two fights ago he lost a shutout decision to power punching titleholder Albert Machado. We could learn something here if Morales manages to win rounds in this one or Garcia finishes him when a big puncher like Machado couldn’t. As for the co-feature, Marvin Cabrera is a former Mexican amateur standout who competed and won a fight in two world championships. His opponent here has about as empty of an unbeaten record as possible though, unfortunately. Nesco only has three wins over men with positive records and one of those fighters was 2-1-1. Facebook Watch has the show for the second time. Hopefully I don’t lose rounds to a poor stream again.
