Alberto Machado blows out Yuandale Evans in one

The Puerto Rican made quick work of his challenger.

HBO may have found a young start too late in the game. As the network begins its fade out of the sport over the remainder of the year, 28 year old junior lightweight titleholder Alberto Machado (21-0, 17 KOs) put on a spectacular performance in the middle fight of tonight’s tripleheader. DAZN won’t be complaining when he shows up for them as part of their deal with Golden Boy.

As for this fight itself, it didn’t last long. It only took about a minute into the fight before it all fell apart for Yuandale Evans (20-2, 14 KOs). A left hand put him down before the fight really ever even got going. He rose, but a follow up right hook seemed to hurt him even worse than the initial left and he was back on the canvas. He probably should have stayed there, but instead a couple more shots capped by another right hook deposited him back there anyway and the fight was waved off.

For Evans, this is a particularly big disaster. The Cleveland man is a talented athlete, but this is the second time he’s stepped up to a high level in the sport and its the second time he’s been blown out in a round in doing so. Javier Fortuna did the same thing to him in 2012. Credit to Alberto Machado for getting it done too. Golden Boy and DAZN are probably thrilled that he’s coming to the streaming service off one final dominant showing on HBO.
