Due to there being next to nothing in terms of relevant results, the S8C Top 25 was not updated last week. This week wasn’t really any better, but we do need to go over the little bit that has changed before 2018 really kicks off on Saturday with Errol Spence Jr versus Lamont Peterson and its supporting bouts.
Following his huge early stoppage win at home in Ghana over top ten contender Cesar Juarez, Isaac Dogboe has massively elevated himself from nineteenth in the S8C Top 25 to all the way up to #6. It was a great performance and a great win that really announces a player at super bantamweight. Dogboe now has an interim version of #3 Jessie Magdaleno’s world title, meaning two top 122 lb fighters will need to fight soon. I look forward to it.
I struggled a bit in deciding how much to punish previously eighth ranked Cesar Juarez for the loss. I decided to simply slide him down until he is one spot ahead of someone I was sure he would beat. In twelfth place is young Diego De La Hoya and I think Diego would win that, but Cesar would beat previous number thirteen Ryosuke Iwasa in my view despite his belt. Therefore, Cesar Juarez is now #13.
The only other bit of activity to report in relation to the rankings was 45 year old super middleweight Lolenga Mock’s solid win over Dmitrii Chudinov. I slid the ageless Danish based Congolese fighter up one spot to #22 at 168 pounds.
